Case Study: Rapid Deployment Paint Booth for Reusable Rocket Manufacturer
Project Overview
A reusable rocket manufacturer required a paint booth solution to support coating operations during the production of rocket components, including spray-on foam insulation (SOFI) and other aerospace coating processes. A critical requirement was speed. The booth needed to be operational in an extremely short timeframe to keep the manufacturing schedule on track.
The Challenge
- Extremely tight timeline to achieve operational status
- Large aerospace components requiring a spacious enclosure
- Management of exothermic spray processes, including SOFI application
- New roof system on facility and penetrating the roof for ventilation would void the building warranty
The Solution
Duroair engineered and delivered a 15’H x 30’W x 35’L DuroRoom™ retractable enclosure designed for rapid deployment. Because standard filtration equipment could not be delivered within the compressed timeline, Duroair’s team custom-designed the enclosure’s rear wall to integrate with third-party exhaust equipment, enabling immediate operation.
Following installation, when the third-party system proved insufficient, Duroair supplied a DuroPure™ recirculating filtration system, eliminating roof penetrations while safely managing all airborne contaminants. Additional upgrades recommended by Duroair’s installation team were subsequently added, including C1D1 lighting, a V-Groove track, and wheel systems.
